The Snow Jade Cave is one of the famous scenic spots in Fengdu, Chongqing. In the cave, 80% of the stalactites are “white as snow, pure like jade”, so the Geological Society of China named it “Snow Jade Cave”. Chinese National Geography recognized it as one of the most beautiful caves in China.
The Cave is a rare “Snow World”. Due to the unique cave environment and structure, there are quite few impurities in the dissolved carbonate.
It is also a rapidly growing cave in the world. According to expert research, Snow Jade Cave only began to develop along the Longhe River between 80,000 and 55,000 years ago. While in other caves, the stalactite landscape generally formed tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of years ago, with aging texture and dull color. The growth rate of the cave deposit is generally about 1 millimeter in 100 years in other caves, while the Snow Jade Cave reaches 33 millimeters in 100 years.
The scenic landscapes formed by the cave deposit are stunning, with all kinds of shapes, such as stalactites, stalagmites, flag, waterfall, belt, shields, coral, and even animals. Snow Jade Cave is often described as “The white jade sculpts the exquisite world, and the snow dance in the Arcadia”.
